ISAAC AND RHYS TO BE ASSESSED ON THURSDAY NIGHT f362n
Glenavon’s brilliant second half performance against Larne at Inver Park and David Toure’s dramatic late equaliser was somewhat overshadowed by injuries sustained by both Isaac Baird and Rhys Marshall. 5j2n4l
Isaac, who made his first senior start of the season in the 3-1 win against Cliftonville, was forced to leave the field in the 19th minute, Ironically, it was Rhys who replaced him.
Twenty minutes later, Marshall collided with Jack Malone. Initially, there was considerable concern about his condition. However, after treatment on the pitch, he was able to continue. Nonetheless, he was withdrawn fourteen minutes into the second half.
After the match Isaac revealed that he went off with a muscle injury. “It is my hamstring,” he said. “Chris [Loughran] will look at it on Thursday. Hopefully, it won’t keep me out for too long.”
“It usually takes a few days for the inflammation to clear,” Chris Loughran explained. “After that we can work out how best to treat it and I can give Paddy the assessment results.”
Rhys suffered a whiplash-type injury. He will also be examined by Glenavon’s sports therapist.
Isaac, who sustained a ACL injury in February 2024, has spent the last twelve months working his way back to full fitness. He made his return to the side four weeks ago as a late substitute in the exciting 3-2 win at Dungannon. Last Saturday he was one of the team’s top performers.
Rhys, who returned to the club last summer, has been hampered by a foot injury for a large part of the season. Despite that, in the last few months he has produced some excellent displays, usually as a substitute.
Hopefully, both players will be available to play again sooner rather than later.
